Four steps to maintaining the value of your instruments
Contamination on stainless steel instruments, such as water spots or discolouration due to corrosion, can have various causes. They are always undesirable, as they lead to instrument damage and costly internal investigations, repair costs and replacements.
With our deconex® products and expertise, we can assist with deep cleaning and passivation and thus help you to maintain the value of your stainless steel instruments.
In order to remove all organic and inorganic residues from the surface and to prepare the instrument for passivation, deep cleaning must be carried out in two steps:
In Step 1, alkaline deep cleaning is carried out, for example in a machine process with deconex® 28 ALKA ONE-x.

Step 2: Acidic cleaning
in the second step of deep cleaning, any inorganic residue on the stainless steel instrument, such as silicate, corrosion or water stains, is removed by means of acidic cleaning.
We recommend using deconex® 34 GR, our deep cleaning agent with multi-purpose formula for this step.

Step 3: Passivation
After deep cleaning is complete, it is time to regenerate the passive layer and boost its thickness to the maximum.
This is exactly where the strengths of our deconex® 34GR multi-purpose formula come into play: This product can be used for both acidic deep cleaning and passivation. Only the process differs. Another advantage of passivation with deconex® 34 GR is the thickness of the passive layer. It is up to 5 times thicker than a passive layer generated with citric acid.

Step 4: Cause identification and reprocessing optimisation
After deep cleaning and passivation comes the last, equally important step: Process optimisation.
Together with process specialists from Borer Chemie, the causes of corrosion, discolouration or stains on instruments are identified and eliminated. With these measures, you not only reduce costs for repair and new procurement. With our expertise, our specialists optimise the entire reprocessing process together with you and with it, the expense of manual pre- and post-cleaning.
